Contract Awarded for Management Master Plan

On Track St. Thomas is pleased to announce that Peter J. Smith Company, of Fort Erie and Buffalo, has been chosen to undertake our St. Thomas Elevated Park Management Master Plan. Work begins later this month and should be completed by the end of October this year.

The company has completed dozens of projects across North America and around the world, including four Canadian provinces and 16 U.S. states, on subjects ranging from urban planning, waterfront design, regional planning, heritage interpretation to parks design. For a complete list of their projects, visit their website at http://www.pjscompany.com.

Funded through a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the master plan will lay out a design vision and guidelines for the conversion of the abandoned MCR rail bridge over Kettle Creek into Canada's first elevated park. The guidelines will help define the park and trail design as well as detail the steps necessary to undertake the conversion.

Once completed, the master plan will be presented to the community at a special town hall meeting later this year. Stay tuned.
